I don't really understand the purpose of the #bbc6music Indie Forever channel. And they haven't really explained it.

It seems to be competing directly with X FM, despite the fact that the argument a lot of us used when defending 6 from closure was that X was not commercially viable with its original playlists and so had to go mainstream.

There doesn't seem to be any attempt to cut down the more mainstream parts of the main 6 channel - eg. Cloudbusting, eg they only ever play three Pavement songs and one Deftones song - to bring more new and esoteric music to their playlist.
